Maija Paunio

 

Maija trained at Rose Bruford College of Speech and Drama. Straight after graduating, she appeared on stage in London playing Olga in Alan Bennett’s The Old Country. Before moving back to Helsinki she attended Ecole Pierre Debauche in Paris for a semester as an exchange student. She has ever since worked on stage, film, and tv.

Maija’s most recent work includes the American film Dual, which premiered at Sundance2022 and was directed by Riley Stearns. Maija has a wide scale of work in several languages in TV series such as Next of Kin, Bordertown, and The Replacement.

Maija speaks English, Russian, Swedish, and her native Finnish.

Before attending theatre school Maija studied theoretical philosophy and painting. She is also a skilled piano player.
